Needle felt Toadstools with Arzu Unel-Cleary

Transform humble sheep’s fleece into a soft-sculpture with the gentle art of needle felting. Learn how to create organic flowing form, connect parts and good needle technique. Create a mushroom or botanically accurate fungus. The possibilities are endless with this versatile and very forgiving craft.

All materials provided

Animal Armature for Needle Felting with Dianne Conroy

In this beginner’s workshop, we’ll use images of an animal in order to understand how to construct a correctly proportioned wire armature. This skill will help with making needle felted animals and characters. This can also be used for other art projects eg clay work, paper mâché and fabric wrapping. Building a wire armature helps with getting proportions correct, strength, and makes your creations posable. Once the armature is made we will look at how to start adding core wool and a top coat. Each student will have a lovely reindeer to take home.

Wet Felted Baby Slippers with Gail Grunske

Choose your coloured soft merino wool and create a cute pair of baby booties/slippers. Learn to use a resist to stop the wool felting together and hand sculpt them into shape.

Materials: Bring your own length of ribbon approx 2 metres, scissors and plastic bags for stuffing in the booties. All other materials supplied

Create a Wet Felted Wool Glasses Case with Gail Grunske
In this fun class you will learn how to make a seamless glasses pouch made from pure merino wool. Which colours, how you embellish and decorate your very own arty glasses case will be born from your imagination. You’ll learn to lay wool over a resist, and turn the wool into solid felt. The wool will become sturdy under your hands. The pouch can be used for lots of things, jewellery, treasures etc. No experience necessary.

Criss-Cross Crochet Hexagon Medallions and how to join them with Jill Rakich

In this class you will learn how to make an overlay hexagon and how to crochet them together using the join as you go method. I will teach you how to make it as many sided as you like to create 3 dimensional crochet projects. I will have samples of how I put this process to work to create crochet projects. This will give you the skills to make many more things using this method.

Materials: Please bring your own hook. 3.5 mm or 4mm hook or close

Crochet Crocodile Stitch with Jill Rakich

In this class I will teach you how to do crochet Crocodile Stitch. This versatile stitch can be used in many interesting ways. It has great texture. I will have examples of how the stitch can be used in different projects.

Materials: Please bring your own hook. 3.5 mm or 5.5mm to use with 8 ply yarn.

Knitters – Learn to Latvian Braid (and a little bit of Fair Isle) with Linda Douglas

It’s time to learn the Latvian braid and it’s not as hard as you think. Let Linda guide you through the steps creating a Latvian braid as well as get to start a little fair isle on our wrist warmer! In this workshop, participants will learn how to work Latvian braids and also a little Fair isle, with a twisted two-colour cast-on for a wrist warmer. The Latvian braid is perfect for garment hems and necks, socks, mittens, hats and more. (A free wristlet pattern is included with an option of colourwork or plain knitting depending on your skill level)

Materials to bring with you:
4mm knitting needles, 2 contrasting colours of yarn, 2 stitch markers, pen and pencil. (Notes will be handed out at the workshop plus a free pattern and a discount voucher to purchase some of my hand dyed yarn or a kit or pattern

Crochet Covered CD Discs with Lynda Clarke

Cover unwanted CDs with colourful yarn to crochet simple and decorative patterns on both sides. Hang to create beautiful reflections from whatever light source available, be it sun, candles, moon or even headlights for ongoing free fairy lights effects.

Wardrobe Surgery with Lynda Clarke

Wardrobe Surgery is the practice of creatively reinventing your current wardrobe or pre loved clothing to become an entirely different garment. This can be done easily and usually with minimal sewing. Eg a skirt becomes a top, pants into a skirt etc. Learn simple creative ways to remove and relocate sections of a garment for a quirky transformation. Save garments ending up in landfill and money. A Wardrobe Surgery graduate will model garments and assist in demonstrations.

Drop Spindle Spinning with Maree White Check with Maree regarding wording

In this hands on workshop Maree will demonstrate the process to prepare raw fleece, both sheep and alpaca, ready to spin into yarn. Each participant will learn how to prepare the fibre before making a “leader” from this. They will be shown several ways to hold both the fibre and spindle to be able to spin their own unique yarn. You will also learn how to set the twist in your yarn so that the finished yarn can then be used for knitting, crochet or weaving.

Materials: All supplies are provided including the spindle which is yours to keep.

Silk Basket Making with Pauline Amor

Silk baskets…..back by popular demand!!

In this workshop you will make a beautiful silk basket using Sari silks and Nepalese silk threads. All materials included. There will be lots of colour and ways to choose from, so every basket will be different. You will be given written instructions to take home.

Off-set Granny Square with Renate Kirkpatrick

This is a fabulous little stash-busting pattern. Squares measure approx 18 cm (7”) x 18 cm (7”) and are easily mastered. Create your own cot covers, knee rugs or even a bedspread.

Spirals are beautiful, centered, balanced & harmonious, yet, can be complex. The crochet spiral workshop takes away some of the mystery by taking you through the basics. You can adapt and experiment with spirals, to incorporate them into your crochet repertoire.

Botanical Dyeing- Bundle Method with Sue Connor

In this workshop you will be introduced to the magic and beauty of natural dyeing. I will share with you which plants and kitchen waste can be used for dyeing, how to effectively mordant fabric and the technique of bundle dyeing. You will create your own unique silk scarf reflecting the beauty of nature.

Botanical Dyeing- Extraction Method with Sue Connor

Introduction to the magic and beauty of natural dyeing. Learn which plants and kitchen waste can be used, how to effectively mordant protein and cellulose fibres and the technique of extraction dyeing. Receive 50 grams of pure wool yarn as well as a selection of cotton yarns and linen, cotton and silk fabric to experiment with. We will create at least 3 colours to use.

Fluffy beasties and mythical critters” Pom Pom Workshop with Jane Little

Kids, join Crafty Jane on a creative journey in the yarny teepee. Go on an adventure while you play with arts and crafts, pom poms, French spool knitting, macrame, hand knitting and other yarny crafts. Take home something original, handmade by you! Try some new skills in a fun environment.
